| | Ken Jones is an award-winning playwright and Emmy nominated screenwriter. Jones received his MFA in playwriting from the University of Virginia and continued his studies in playwriting at the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University. Jones participated in the Warner Bros. Television Writer’s Workshop and went on to write for Paramount and later LightPoint Entertainment located at the Disney-MGM Studios in Florida. His play, A RED EAGLE FALLING, was produced Off-Broadway in New York City’s WRITER’S THEATRE in 1986, and in 1989, TIME magazine chose Ken Jones’ play, DARKSIDE for its Critics’ Choice. Jones has had over 350 productions of his plays, three published, and his works are listed in several anthologies and monologue books. His musical BURGERTOWN premiered in Chicago at the Theatre Building Chicago in 2005, and the CD remained in the top 20 for original musical scores for four weeks. Professional theatres have produced his plays across the United States and Canada. He has won a Telly Award, a Communicator’s Award, the Post-Corbett award for Literary Artist, the DuPont Fellowship, the Delauney Playwriting Award, the Denver Prima Facie Award, the Kentucky Commonwealth Theatre Award, and the Kentucky Playwright’s Award. Jones is currently playwright-in-residence and the Chairman of the Department of Theatre and Dance at Northern Kentucky University. | |
