Ever notice getting confused when someone asks you to open a window and you realize they're talking about something on your computer and not the temperature in the room?! Now imagine that you're a college professor and have created a wonderful piece of computer software - and named it ALICE. Only when an investor overhears you talking about ALICE "getting sick" on the day of the big demo, you're stuck pretending it's your daughter named Alice. And when your real daughter shows up - having eloped and gotten pregnant with a daughter she wants to name...Alice - well, now you've got the makings for a hysterical, fast-paced farce! With increasing stories and lies, the professor and his assistant race to fix ALICE before his investors find out. And the predicament only gets worse when they discover that their head investor from Texas has taken ill from food poisoning, and their caterer from Australia must cover for him! The madcap mishaps build to a riotous conclusion, with a surprise ending that will leave your audience laughing on the way out!
The cast of ten - six men and four women - will have a wonderful time with the snappy dialogue, disguises and dialects. And the simple, single set makes this an easy, fun play to produce.Alternate title: Artificial Intelligence. |
