| | Ben Kingsland is an award-winning playwright whose plays have been produced across the US and Canada. His ten-minute Trash Talk was bubbly, delightful (DCist), and the best of the evening (DC Citypaper). Volga Goatman was described as a mini-epic that had the audience laughing (theatreDC.com). Kingsland won Best Writing and Best Play awards at Bethesda Urban Partnerships Play-in-a-Day competition for six years running, and his play Spin also won Best Overall Production in 2010. Commissions include A Tale Of Two Cities from Olney Theatre Center?National Players, as well as original musicals, operas and plays for children from Educational Theatre Company, Synetic Family Theatre, New Voices Opera, Interact Story Theatre, and more. He received a project grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County for The Twelve Daughters of Hercules, a comedy for teenage actors. Writing as Ben Rovik, he's also written the massive interactive choose-your-own-path comedy Fool! for Choice of Games (search on the App Store or Google Play), as well as the comedy-fantasy series Mechanized Wizardry. Kingsland graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Writing. | |
