| | Jim Bain is a published playwright, author, humorist and poet who has performed his works throughout Texas.
Bain's comedies were produced as winners in three annual Ten by Ten Festivals, sponsored by Scriptwriters/Houston. His one-act comedy play, A.L.I.C.E. was winner of the 2006 Drury University national play-writing contest and was performed in Springfield, Missouri. Bain's comedy Life isn't Very Easy was a national finalist for the 2005 Heideman Award, sponsored by the Actors Studio of Louisville, Kentucky. His newest full-length musical comedy (spoof) Invasion of the Potty Snatchers was selected for its premiere public presentation at the 14th Annual New Play Reading Series, Houston, Texas. The formal reading-recital, including introduction of eighteen original songs, occurred on the large stage at Country Playhouse in Houston before an audience of 175.
Bain was the 2008 president of Scriptwriters/Houston and the founder of the Houston Ah-Ha Society, a social organization for writers, actors, singers, dancers and other performers and lovers of the theatre arts. Additionally, Bain was founder of the new Side Gate Theatre, a venue for original, cutting-edge stage plays by local Texas playwrights residing in Texas.
