Kyle Harpole

Kai (They Them) grew up in northeastern Oklahoma. They were not particularly active in theatre in their early days, though they were a proud member of the Hippie House Band for their high school's heavily censored 2004 production of Hair. They also rear-ended a car while wearing their Hippie House Band attire before their first performance. That's the extent to which they were exposed to theatre as a child.

Kai discovered playwriting when they took a playwriting course in the fall of 2005. The first real play they ever wrote (That's What Lovers Do) was produced at the University of Iowa Ten Minute Play Festival in 2006. Two more of their plays were produced in this festival in 2007 and 2008, but the latter was way to weird to publish with Heuer. Sorry, guys.

Kai lives on the east coast and appreciates that their annual royalty check can buy them a nice coffee most years.
