Monica Bauer

Monica Bauer, a graduate of Brown and Yale, was the 2005 Teaching Fellow in the Graduate Playwriting Program at Boston University. She has been a student of Kate Snodgrass, Gary Garrison, and Craig Lucas. Awards include third place in New Theater Works for Young Women, and second-runner up in the Eileen Heckart Senior Drama awards. Her plays have been produced in Denver, Boston, Cambridge, Atlanta, San Diego, Providence, and 0ff-0ff Broadway. She's a favorite at the Midtown International Theater Festival in New York, and was one of six playwrights given productions in 2007 as part of their Next Step Developmental Series. Her play about race, jazz, and Nebraska (My Occasion of Sin) is being developed through the support of the Hixson-Lied Foundation. She is a proud member of ASCAP and The Dramatists Guild, and in her non-theatrical life is the Political Science and Education Editor at Choice Magazine, in Middletown, Connecticut. Her first play was a monologue she wrote for herself to perform in a high school forensics competition!
