He grew up in New Jersey, which explains a lot. He attended college in Boston which doesn't explain anything, which is all for the best.
Fortunate enough to work on TV staffs every year from 1983 to 2003, R.J.'s career was uniquely divided between comedy and drama, which afforded him the unique opportunity to experience professional pain in both 30 and 60-minute formats. He retired from TV writing at age 46, although he didn't realize it until he was 49.
His life adventures have included playing semi-pro football in Finland, teaching comedy writing to grad students, and being hit by a truck. The only permanent damage came from the grad students. | |
