| | | Saul Zachary has had his plays produced in theatres in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. He is co-founder/artistic director of the Manhattan Playwrights Unit and Grand Mal Theatre, and former co-founder/artistic director of Playwrights Platform, Boston. His work is published in The Best Short Plays series, in A Grand Entrance and in the School of Visual Arts literary magazine Words. His awards include National Endowment for the Arts, PEN American Center, New York State Creative Artists Program Service, CBS-TV and Massachusetts Arts and Humanities fellowships, and he is a three-time winner of the Dubuque Fine Arts Players National One-Act Playwriting Contest. His play The Color of Heat has had numerous productions, most recently at the Highbury Little Theatre in Birmingham, England and Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky. Something Spanish won both the Attic Theatre One-Act Marathon Competition and the Dubuque Fine Arts Players National One-Act Playwriting Contest and was produced by both theatres. Mr. Zachary holds a B.A. cum laude in English from Brooklyn College and an M.A. in theatre arts from Smith College. He has taught playwriting and film writing at The Writer's Voice in NYC, the Frederick Douglass Creative Arts Center in NYC, Smith College and the University of South Florida in Tampa. | |
