Licensing is the process of acquiring the performance rights to a show. It's the only way to ensure your group does not violate the Federal Copyright Law and it is legally required to produce any musical, whether you're a school group or a professional theater.
The Broadway Series provides you with a complete ShowKit™ or Production Pack at a fixed price with performance rights for one year. This special license is intended for accredited academic institutions with performers in grades 9 and lower. Additionally, churches may license Godspell.
Step 1: Browse and Select Your Musical
Simply browse the collection from the Broadway Series section, and you'll find helpful information on the shows' requirements on their individual show pages.
Read a Copy of the Script Before You Decide
Not sure what show you'd like to perform? Order an audio sampler of a script (also comes with a full listening CD of the show) so you can read the libretto to see if it's right for your group. Read one or read several musicals to help you make the best decision. We strongly recommend you read the script before you book a show - even if you think you know a title. Only you know what material is appropriate for your school.
Step 2: Place Your Order for a ShowKit™ or Production Pack
Order must be placed with credit card or official school purchase order.
Step 3: Watch for Your License Agreement in the Mail/Email/Fax
You should receive your License Agreement within one to two weeks of placing your order. Please contact us, if you have not received your agreement.
Step 4: Read and Sign Your License Agreement – return to Hal Leonard
Read over your License Agreement CLOSELY to be sure you understand it. Titles are non-returnable, so once you sign and return the license, you've made your purchase. Once your signed agreement has been received, your order will ship.
