Author's Notes:
My son told me that Santa never brought him anything good for Christmas, and that is the idea behind this short play. Nicky is so upset that all he ever gets in his stocking is a lump of coal that he ships himself to the North Pole to confront Santa in person. But, first he has to get past the 'gatekeeper' elf who guards access to St. Nick. This is a great piece for a couple of your best young actors. The script is very fast-paced and many of the lines are read straight from the "Letters to Santa." It makes a great short play to include in a holiday variety program or series of 10-minute plays.
Nicky has been a naughty boy. Again. In fact, Nicky is naughty every year so instead of getting toys under his Christmas tree, Santa has been leaving him a lump of coal in his stocking year after year. Well, Nicky has finally had it with being labeled as naughty by Santa and decides to pack himself in a FedEx box and ship it to the North Pole. He’s going to plead his case face-to-face with Santa, but first, he has to get past Libby, the elf in charge of putting together Santa’s “Naughty or Nice” list. This pacy comedy shows us what happens when Nicky decides he’s just not going to take it anymore!
