While preparing for the original production of Sherlock Holmes and the Doom of Devilsmoor, the artistic director of Theater Company of Lafayette asked if she could make one of the male characters female because of the number of interested actresses. Not easily, I said, but I'll make the next one 'Sherlock Holmes and the Convent.' REALLY? she said. Uh oh, I said. That was how the Spinsters of Blackmead got its start. It's Sherlock...with a half-dozen meaty roles for women.

Synopsis

Someone is murdering the women of Blackmead Manor, and the fiercely independent female academic community is reluctant to ask for help from outsiders. When Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are drawn into the case, they find their reception as sticky as the mystery they must solve. A servant is found dead, a member of the Blackmead community is missing, and the great detective uncovers links to his arch enemy, Professor Moriarty. Is this merely another interesting case or a fatal trap for Holmes himself?
