Customer Comments:
By Larry Stark - Theater Mirror
...premiering at the BAC, is a clever little show about 40-year-old Samantha undergoing a midlife crisis on her birthday; her angst triggers the personification of her inner "monsters" (i.e. Apathy, Fear and Body) who pick up tormenting Samantha where her overbearing mother has left off...

By Pamela Enders - Boston Association of Cabaret Artists
For many years, in my work as a psychologist, I have heard patients refer to their "monsters" -- those internal psychical creatures whose voices proclaim its owner's inadequacies and fears. Gail Phaneuf and Ernie Lijoi have managed to create a musical which bring those monsters to life in a hilarious and sometimes poignant tour de force.

By Jennifer Bubriski - Edge
Creator Gail Phaneuf and Ernie Lijoi do succeed in creating comedy with a wholly original idea...

By James Furbush - The Patriot Ledger
Unless more musicals like "Monsters!" are produced, supported, and recognized for their value, one day we just might suffer the likes of, say, REO Speedwagon on Broadway.

By Josh Shea - In Newsweekly
...this production offers an uplifting message coupled with some energetic acting, catchy songs, capped off with undeniably funny writing.

By Brian Jewell - South End News
Samantha's inner demons are about to leap out of her psyche and into her living room, where they will torment her (and delight audiences) through song and dance.

By Gina Perille - The Boston Globe
Facing one's demons isn't supposed to be fun, but Gail Phaneuf and Ernie Lijoi have found a way to do it.

Synopsis
Monsters! A Midlife Musical Meltdown captures the humor, angst and insight experienced at life’s milestones. Manhattan stock broker Samantha is paid a 40th birthday visit by her domineering mother. Samantha fretfully reveals her plans to quit her Wall Street job and embark on a soul-searching adventure. Her mother's reaction stirs up a toxic blend of old insecurities embodied by “monsters”, familiar to us all. In an effort to derail her new ambitions, the monsters drag Samantha into a riotous showdown of wills and determination. A mysterious package and sexy birthday singer skyrocket the antics into a full blown, hilarious mid-life crisis.
