But death will never be the same when he receives a surprise visit from the One in Charge and finds out that the One in Charge is a woman. She tells him about all of the changes that have taken place since he went down with the Titanic in 1912, including women’s right to vote, Womens’ Lib, and equal pay. Now accused of interfering with the living (for fun), the One in Charge orders Snooks to work as the Grim Reaper for 48 hours. If he collects the selected souls in less than 48 hours, he will be allowed to haunt the theatre indefinitely; if not, he’ll end up on another sinking ship. With a bag of death dust in hand, Snooks is off to meet his first computer-selected soul, Lenny Podolski. Lenny and his best friend Lonny are set for the biggest double date of their lives when the Grim Reaper shows up wearing a Tinkerbell costume (due to a mix-up at the cleaners!). But he’s not the only surprise. It turns out that Lonny is a ventriloquist’s dummy and his blind date is furious when she finds out! Snooks visits Ernst Koomquat next, a successful real estate tycoon. Ernst is one feisty soul and manages to flush the death dust down the toilet. "Nobody takes me out when I’m at the top of my game!" Just when it looks like it’s curtains for Snooks, the One in Charge of the One in Charge arrives on the scene to sort things out, including a few cases of mistaken identities. Lenny lives, Koomquat gets off the hook and Snooks ends up with exclusive haunting rights to the abandoned theatre - and a little unexpected romance with an unlikely lady. |
